There are a multitude of conditions that benefit from chiropractic care: chronic pain, tight muscles, reduced mobility or an injury to name a few. Muscle spasms in your neck or back may reduce mobility and decrease function in your spine. Scar tissue or adhesions can form around joints and the muscle. An injury, such as a fall or a motor vehicle accident, can lead to small tears in the muscle, ligaments, and the surrounding tissue. As the body's regenerative abilities attempts to heal itself by producing adhesions, the tissue is not as pliable (elastic) as healthy tissue and can lead to pain and degeneration. While these adhesions in the muscle may be due to an injury, they may also be the result of muscle tissue that no longer works or is inhibited. Remember, if you don't use it, you lose it.

An adjustment is a technique used by a chiropractor that physically opens the joint spaces and restores their normal mobility, thereby restoring function. This may prevent possible degeneration of the spine and disc - also known as arthritis. An adjustment can be performed on the spine, as well as other joints in the body.

Chiropractic treatments are extremely safe for individuals of all ages. our treatment plans are safe because we only use natural and non-invasive methods of care. Research consistently shows that care from chiropractors is among the safest case available, and the treatments themselves are not painful. In fact, most patients look forward to their treatments as many experience relief immediately afterwards. Those patients with moderate to severe pain may experience some minor discomfort for obvious reasons. However, care is always gentle, safe and non-invasive.

There are so many factors that can lead to an injury or pain. But one factor that seems to be constant is posture. From the fittest athlete to the couch potato, virtually everyone engages in repetitive motion, such as sitting for long periods of time at a desk or in an automobile. Our bodies were built to hunt and gather, not sit hovered over a computer for eight hours a day, only to then slouch in a comfortable lounge chair at the end of the work day. The longer the body sits in one position, the more the body reinforces the support systems around the bones. Some muscles become weak and others become tight, creating a problematic muscle imbalance. Ligaments that normally hold and support the joints are slowly stretched and become loose. They can no longer support the skeletal system as they were originally intended to do. Learning correct posture habits as well as incorporating an exercise and stretching program to restore balance in the body are excellent ways to alleviate pain and discomfort.

Treatment lengths vary from person to person depending on the individual's condition. But there are a few rules of thumb that can be followed. First, newer injuries - if treated promptly and properly - respond to fewer visits, assuming major tissue damage has not occurred. Many of these first time injuries can be effectively managed in as little as five to ten visits. Second, conditions that have been present for greater than three months and recurring conditions are generally more stubborn and difficult to manage. Resolution typically requires more visits. The only sure way to determine how long your treatment will take is to schedule a consultation or an examination. For those who believe in just waiting for the problem to "go away" or resolve itself on its own, understand that the longer the condition goes untreated, the more treatments it will eventually take to reverse the damage. While you may have heard that the majority of back problems resolve themselves, what is often not understood is that they will likely return. If the underlying structural problem is not addressed, the pain will return with more intensity and frequency.

We accept most major health insurances. Few people realize that most insurance policies cover chiropractic care and have done so for many years. Insurance carriers have come to recognize that chiropractic care effectively treats many musculoskeletal disorders and, in the long run, are more cost effective than radical procedures such as surgery and prolonged medications. Injuries incurred in an automobile accident are covered under most auto insurance policies. If you would like to find out if your insurance covers chiropractic, call our office and we will be glad to check on your benefits.
